Join OM System Ambassador, Lee Hoy, for his first European OM System Only Workshop! May is one of the most compelling months to photograph wildlife in Spain. Spring is still lush, temperatures are moderate, and animal activity is high. The landscape carries a vibrant green rarely seen later in the dry Mediterranean summer. For a wildlife photographer, May offers a powerful combination: soft golden light, active breeding behavior, and relatively comfortable field conditions for long days behind the lens.
Photographing the iconic Iberian Lynx in May is both a privilege and a challenge of your skills. Spring coincides with the period when females may still be tending to cubs, increasing the chance—though never the guarantee—of observing family interactions. Early mornings and late evenings are prime, as lynx move along rocky ridge lines and through Mediterranean scrub hunting rabbits. Pursuing the nocturnal mammals one evening will provide an opportunity to see and photograph the Genet, Beech Martin, or Badger!
Of course, no wildlife photography outing to Spain would be complete without capturing visually compelling images of some of Spain's most beautiful and unique birds. A special day in search of the Egyptian Vulture, Black Vulture (the largest flying bird in Europe), and the Griffon Vulture is sure to delight!
This workshop also offers some photographing from blinds where birds such as the Golden Oriole, Sardinian Warbler, Hawfinch,Woodchat Shrike, Dupont's Lark, Crested Tit, and Iberian Magpie to name a few!
Throughout the workshop, we will cover every menu item in your OM System Camera related to wildlife photography. Programming custom modes, creating custom AF Target Modes, mastering exposure using live highlight alerts, and programming custom button functions will be some of the things you will learn!
