This workshop will primarily teach you wildlife and bird photography with telephoto and super telephoto lenses in natural light.

- Morning Departure after Breakfast to the Alcazar de San Juan Lagoons.
- Photograph the endangered and elegant water birds such as White-headed Duck, Greater Flamingos, and Marbled Teal.
- Lunch and Departure to Cortijo de Coto Olaya
- Photograph Iberian Lynx
- Overnight in Andalusia

- Morning & Evening Photography Outings for Iberian Lynx
- During Mid-day on some days, discuss ingesting and culling images with Photo Mechanic, begin discussion on post processing images with DxO PureRaw

- Day 5 - 5 Hour Drive to village of Arroyo de la Luz
- Day 5 - Overnight at Hostal Los Alisos
- Dusk - Search for Nocturnal Mammals such as Badger, Genet, or Beech Marten

Learn How to Capture Visually Compelling Images from a Safari Vehicle
The challenges of photographing from a safari vehicle are very different from those on foot. You will learn fieldcraft related to shooting lanes, composing images from different elevations, watching for AF obstacles, and settings to ensure your images are tack sharp!
Pre and Post Workshop Zoom Meetings to Facilitate the Learning Process
This workshop includes a group pre-workshop zoom meeting to help you prepare for the trip by discussing clothing, camera gear, accessories, travel suggestions, and more. It also includes a post workshop group zoom meeting for an image critique discussion for those who opt to share images for critique. Both sessions will be recorded and provided for repeated viewing.
Covers the Big Four of India!
This workshop gives you a chance to see the Greater One-Horned Rhino, Indian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, and Asiatic Wild Buffalo. This itinerary maximizes our chances to photograph all of these, plus leopard!
Planning
Weather
- The mornings can be quite chilly (especially in an open air safari vehicle) and the late mornings will begin to warm up.
- The afternoons can be quite warm with the temps dropping rapidly as we return. Plan accordingly.
- The dust on the roads can be quite intense at times as seen from the photo on the left. You may want a mouth covering or face covering to help.
Camera Gear
- Super Telephoto Lens (500mm+) is recommended)
- Medium Telephoto Lens (200mm to 500mm) recommended
- Wide Angle Lens (7mm to 50mm range) recommended for street photography
- My kit will consist of the following:
- 12-100mm F4.0, 50-200mm F2.8, & 150-400mm F4.5 with OM-1 Mark II's and OM-3 for Street Photography
- Minimum of Two Camera Bodies (You don't want to come this far with only one camera body)
- Tripod or Monopod (not necessary and won't work well in the safari vehicles)
- Circular Polarizer, ND Filter, or Graduated Neutral Density Filters (not necessary)
- Plenty of Batteries & Memory Cards (Promaster Rugged Cine Memory Cards)
- Laptop & External Drives for Uploading Images & Editing

The pre-workshop Zoom Meeting will be January 27, 2027. Participants will receive an email with the link within one week of the date of the meeting.
Cancellation Policy
I no longer offer cancellations on my workshops. If the photo workshop is full and someone from the waiting list can take your spot, your tuition is fully refundable minus a 15% cancellation fee.
We are not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other reasons. Should cancellation be required due to severe weather, an alternate date will be scheduled at no additional charges.
No fees will be refunded if you withdraw after the photo workshop begins.
