2027 Bahia Rainforest Expedition - Macro Photography - OM System Only

$6,429

Join OM System Ambassador Lee Hoy and Brazilian photographer and biologist Ramon Cavalcanti as we photography while walking through the trails of Serra do Conduru, home to the largest continuous reserve of Atlantic Forest. Here, every bend of the path reveals a secret: a chorus of frogs found nowhere else on Earth, orchids clinging to ancient trees, and reptiles that exist only in this fragile ecosystem. In southern Bahia, the Atlantic Forest meets the coastline, one of the most stunning stretches of shore in Brazil. This unique intersection of forest and ocean creates a mosaic of life and landscapes unlike any other.

We invite you to join us for an expedition where photography and exploration merge. Over seven days, we will uncover rare species found only in this corner of the world, while immersing ourselves in the culture and breathtaking beauty of Bahia’s coast. Guided by biologists and photographers, this experience is not just about discovery—it is about witnessing the resilience and wonders of one of the planet’s most threatened yet enchanting biomes. Spaces are limited, and this journey is designed for those who seek more than photographs: those who want to connect deeply with the wild spirit of the Atlantic Forest. Are you ready to step into the wilderness of Bahia?

Air Travel
Air access to Ilhéus (IOS – Jorge Amado Airport) is available through domestic flights connecting the city to several major Brazilian capitals. There are no direct international flights, so travelers coming from abroad must first arrive at a major Brazilian airport and then connect to Ilhéus.Currently, it is possible to reach Ilhéus directly from key airports. SSA (Salvador) offers the most frequent route, with daily flights averaging 1 hour. There are also direct flights from GRU (São Paulo – Guarulhos), with an average flight time of 2 hours and 15 minutes, and from CNF (Belo Horizonte – Confins), which takes approximately 2 hours. These routes provide convenience and accessibility, allowing travelers to reach the southern coast of Bahia with minimal connections. For those departing from other Brazilian airports or arriving from abroad, the most common option is to fly into one of the main hubs — such as GRU, SSA, or CNF — and then board a domestic flight directly to IOS. This ensures a straightforward travel chain with flexible itineraries tailored to different travel needs. Thus, while IOS serves primarily domestic flights, the available routes make Ilhéus easily accessible and a comfortable entry point to explore the natural and cultural richness of southern Bahia.
