I would recommend always having a pair of rubber boots and insulated boots depending on your typical climate! You never know when you might want to walk out into a river or muddy area for a visually compelling image! In this case, a winter morning at Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park was perfect for standing in the Rio Grande for this sunrise image! Here you can find my cool or cold weather Muck Boot!
This image is made more visually compelling by getting my tripod low above the water and giving the viewer the feeling they are in the river.
